“Sennacherib, the king over all, king of Assyria, sat upon a throne and viewed the plunder taken from Lachish." (ANET 288)

Another confirmation is mentioned in 2Kings 18:17-18: “Then the king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rabsaris, and the Rabshakeh from Lachish, with a great army against Jerusalem, to King Hezekiah.”

All three of these Assyrian titles have been found in archaeology. Dating back to the reign of Shalmaneser III, a fragment of an ancient tablet mentions the titles of certain Assyrian high officials. It mentions “Turtanu (Tartan) and Rabsaqe (Rabshakeh).” Another artifact, a clay tablet dated to 645 B.C., makes mention of the title Rabsaris. It is inscribed with the words: “Limmu of Rabsaris Nabusarusur.”
