4.5.10 Joining the Links in the Chain

The disarticulation of the industrial production process is one of the most common problems in the agricultural sector and an opportunity missed by many farmers (FAO 2014). Since transforming raw materials into processed goods can significantly improve farmers’ incomes (Sebatta et al. 2015; Gashaw et al. 2018), the industrialization of products should be a holistic approach priority to give them added value.

Entering into the industrialization of their products means for farmers a great effort that only consolidated organizations can assume (Barrera et al. 2004). Therefore, under a holistic approach, emphasis should be placed on improving the managerial, economic and technical capacities of consolidating organizations, especially developing an entrepreneurial attitude among farmers.
