There are no fees for hiking or camping in this area. There are great car camping sites along FS 700, starting around mile 8.9 (once you are near the river). From here to the parking area are several good places to pull off and set up a tent.

Mile/Waypoint
0.0 mi (1) Start at Piney River Ranch and go west toward Piney Lake. Get on the Upper Piney Trail #1885 and enjoy a morning tour of this misty valley.
0.3 mi (2) At the west end of Piney Lake there is a junction with the Marugg Creek Trail #1899. Stay right on the Upper Piney Trail and follow it as it enters into dark woods, climbs up a hill, and descends back down.
