I glance at the door of the coffee shop, surprised that Azíl isn't home from the Archive yet. His hours are flexible, but he's still normally back before the coffee shop closes.

I take a deep breath and reassure myself that he's fine. We know what the Sect wants from us at the moment, and it's as simple as money. We can deal with that as the current expectation. It's what will happen after we make the next move that's really up for debate. I know that means it's just a waiting game.

I check my phone and see a message from Azíl saying he's leaving the Archive and let out a sigh of relief. He'll be here in another ten minutes or so, and nothing bad has happened. I don't need to be looking over my shoulder every chance I get. I need to relax a little.

But sometimes that's easier said than done.

I grab my phone and pull up the notes app to go to where I've been working on the drink for Azíl. I think I've figured out how to recreate his stolah drink. I don't think it will be exactly right, especially because I don't know the spell that they used to create the effect of staying warm.

Spooky jumps up onto the counter, and I shoo her off, directing her to one of the many comfortable chairs around so I can disinfect it and wipe it down. It's going to get annoying having her around if she's going to be causing issues like this.

She looks at me with wide eyes and gives a pitiful meow.

"I'm sorry, you can't be on the counter."

She cocks her head to the side.

"It's not sanitary. I have hygiene standards to uphold." Just to be safe, I pull out my wand and do a cleaning spell.

"Meow."

"That's because you're not really allowed on the counters upstairs either," I tell her. "Don't make me put an anti-cat spell on them."

"Hissssss."

"It's on you, Spook-Spook," I respond, trying not to think too much about the fact I'm having a conversation with a cat. I'm turning into one of the witches from my childhood picture books. Soon I'm going to be donning a pointy hat and cackling at every given opportunity.

Maybe not the best look.

"Behave," I tell the cat.

"Meow."

Is that confirmation that she's going to? Or defiance? I honestly don't know the difference yet. Hopefully, time will make the difference on that front.

She curls up into a ball, but her eyes stay fixated on me. Maybe she's waiting for my attention to slip so she can get back up on the counter. Well, that's not going to happen on my watch. This is going to be a cat-free zone if I have my way.

I press my finger to the side of my phone, bringing my notes back onto the screen alongside Azíl's recipe. It seems like it's mostly a case of spiced milk, which I should be able to recreate easily enough. I might even be able to use one of the premixed chai spices to do it.
