How is God glorified by your friendship?

While friends can be a huge blessing, they can also bring us pain. When you let someone into your life, you run the risk of letting that person hurt you. I’m sure we all have at least one story of being hurt or rejected by a friend from the past. Unfortunately, some of us have many stories. Because of the hurt, you may have decided you don’t want a close friend. Don’t close yourself off to everyone, but be careful where you place your trust. Ask God for direction. He will grant it.

The opposite of the woman who shuts herself off from the crowd is the one who is friends with everyone. She may even think she’s everyone’s best friend. The problem is flawed boundaries — well, flawed boundaries and out-of-balance relationships.

Perhaps you’re relating to this story. If so, that’s really good news and something to be celebrated. God is speaking. Thank God for His love, and confess to Him those friendships that are out of balance. As we talk with God, He will give us grace in this moment and He will lovingly lead us in our friendships.
