Chapter 10

True to his word, Roth spent the entire night worshiping her body. He was tender and loving, as well as dominant. In the morning, she woke curled up next to him in her bed. The clock on her nightstand read five-thirty. She knew Rosa wouldn’t come into her room this early, but just to be on the safe side, she wiggled out of his arms and got up to lock the door.

She turned and watched Roth as he slept soundly in her bed. He looked so handsome and peaceful. Her mind fluttered to the reality that he was a demon, and they weren’t meant to be handsome or peaceful.

She had been raised in the Bible Belt. Religion had been crammed down her throat since she was a young child. She no longer considered herself religious, but definitely spiritual, and a demon in her bed didn’t equate. But he hadn’t just been in her bed…

“Fuck, fuck, fuck…” Abby quietly ran to her bathroom and opened her vanity drawer, taking out the small clamshell box containing her birth control pills. She whipped it open, stared down at the pack, and counted how many days she had missed taking them.

Birth control hadn’t been a priority since she and Laird never had sex. She peeked her head out and looked at Roth. Did they even work against demon sperm? And why was that even a necessary thought in her life? Shaking her head, she popped out two small pills. She would take two today, two tomorrow, and two the next day to be back on track. She tossed the pack back on the counter, splashed some water on her face, ran her hands through her tousled hair, and brushed her teeth.

She hadn’t heard Roth come in until she felt his arms snake around her waist and his lips against the curve of her neck. “We smell like sex. We should shower.”

He reached over, picked up the pink clamshell containing her birth control, and opened it. It wouldn’t take a mathematical genius to figure out she had missed more days than she had taken. His eyes met hers in the mirror and he could see the worry in their blue depths.

“Don’t worry, I can’t get you pregnant unless I wanted to.” He nipped at her earlobe, and it sent a lightening bolt of heat directly to her core. “And I don’t carry any diseases, so stop panicking.”

His hand wandered down her flat stomach and slid between her legs, capturing her clit between two fingers. “You’re already so wet.” Her knees buckled at the sensation, but his strong arms held her up. His fingers rubbed and pinched at the sensitive nub, their eyes staying focused on each other in the mirror. She stretched her arm up and wrapped it around his neck, loving the sight of them together. He bit her neck and she arched into him.

“I love watching you come.” He slipped his two thick fingers into her and found that spot that drove her crazy with need.
