ascension spellcraft

Spellcraft is the art and science of designing rituals to communicate with the divine in order to manifest your will. It is a universal language, moving beyond any one dialect or tongue, helping you interface with the primal forces of creation, and your own higher will, to co-create your reality.

All spells combine intention, directed thought and energy, emotion, and symbolic actions to communicate to the universe. With some spells you effect change by simply reading a short passage, from a chant or prayer to a magickal phrase in a foreign language. Other spells require you to draw a symbol, gather herbs, or carry a stone. Spells can be incredibly long, lasting hours to days, or very short, taking a matter of moments. They can require elaborate tools or simply your own mind and voice.

A spell is an act of ritual magick, with specific, definable goals. Unlike forms of high magick designed to spiritually evolve the practitioner without focusing on a short-term result, spellcraft almost always has a clear goal. The means by which the goal manifests might be left to fate, but the end result is specific. Magick often involves taking the easiest route possible, but you have to leave the door open. If you do a spell for a new job, then make sure you send out résumés and go on interviews. If you do a spell to lose weight, then follow up by eating responsibly and exercising. You will find that the times you tried to lose weight through diet and exercise and failed will be quite different from what you experience when you back up your will with magick.

Spells can be done for any purpose, from finding a new romantic partner to increasing money to pay your bills. You can do magick to increase your business, expand your clientele, attract new friends, awaken psychic powers, heal your body/mind/heart/soul, grow an amazing garden, or create world peace. Anything you can envision and dream about is potentially an intention for a spell, keeping in mind our ethical considerations. “Harming none and in accord with divine will” generally means that if you wouldn’t want something done to you, then don’t do it to anybody else. The more specific and tangible a spell is, the more likely it is that it will manifest. Intentions like world peace are so vast and affect so many people that they are hard to effect on your own unless large numbers of people are also focusing on the same intention. A more effective spell would be to create a peaceful community in your area. If everybody did so, then we could truly have world peace.

A spell that is too specific can also be difficult to manifest. You might do a spell to get a specific job, but if that job is not right for you, or if someone else is a better fit, then your spell will fail. If you do a spell listing certain qualities you want in a job and do not specify the exact position or company, then the universe has more freedom to provide for you.
