Fort McHenry was a star-shaped fort which guarded Baltimore harbour. The five bastions and the redan covering the sally port are clearly visible, as is the unprotected magazine between the barracks. The fort had considerable outworks, some of which are shown in this aerial view.

The replica water battery at Fort McHenry, an outwork that supported the fort. The iron naval guns were French and their sidearms/implements can be seen on the firing platform. The British ships that bombarded the fort were near the modern bridge in the distance.
