Chapter Eight

BRAIN BUCKET

Sunshine

Faye has been and prepared breakfast for us, so when I get up I can smell the coffee. I knock on everyone’s door to make sure they are awake, we don’t normally sleep in on these trips, but these mornings are so early and not everyone is a morning person like me.

Molly and India are the first to come down. “My head doesn’t feel great this morning.” Molly says rubbing her head.

“I’m not surprised the amount of vodka we had last night. These early mornings are a killer for the hangover.” India says handing Molly a cup of strong, black coffee.

“Yeah, it has nothing to do with our age India.” Molly starts laughing.

Sydney is next and Kat soon follows her, the only person missing is Arianna and god knows what state she is going to be in this morning. I worry about her and her fledgling relationship with Cole. She doesn’t really do relationships, so I know it is only a holiday romance, but I still think she is going to be hurt. I haven’t seen her looking at a man the way she looks at him. I will have to have a chat with her later today to make sure she is ok.

We are eating the fabulous continental breakfast that Faye has laid on for us when we hear Arianna coming into the room, yawning.

“Good morning, how is everyone this morning?” She goes straight for the pot of coffee and then reaches for a croissant and stuffs it into her mouth before taking a seat.

“We are all good this morning, we were just wondering if you were going to join us or not.” I say smiling at her.

“Of course I am, I’m here to ski and that is what we are going to do. What is the agenda for today Sunshine?” She sits down and starts piling her plate with food. Whatever she was up to last night, she certainly worked up an appetite.

“We will be having another lesson this morning and then this afternoon we will be seeing Santa!”

“What? Why?” Sydney asks.

“It’s Christmas! They have a trail with Santa at the end and then his elves will help us back down the mountain. It’s an easy trail so we should all be ok.”

“Sounds like fun, I can’t wait to see Santa, do you think he will let me sit on his lap?” mum says smiling at me. I know she is goading me.

“mum, only you would ask that!”

“Actually, that’s a really good idea, India.” Molly joins in the fun.

“God mum, not you as well,” Kat says shaking her head and laughing.

After we finish breakfast we all go upstairs and get ready for another days skiing. We meet back in the ski room about twenty minutes later. Faye is waiting for us.

“So today, I am going to be taking your lesson, Cole has to go to a meeting and won’t be back until later this afternoon. Sorry ladies, you are going to have to look at my face today.
