Android Software

Now that we have proved the sound link and fitted the tablet into a box, it is time to look at the Home Automation software. Like the “sound test” app, this can be downloaded from www.duinodroid.com, where the source code for both applications is also freely available if you want to modify the software for your own ends. Once downloaded and installed, leave the sound interface and Arduino attached so you can see the messages the Android tablet is sending.

The structure of the Android software (Figure 7-20) is unusual in that it actually contains a small web server. This web server serves HTML to the device’s browser, so that the main user interface to the application is a web browser running on the same Android tablet as this mini web server.
