5.17 Parallel Connection of Tapchangers
Parallel connection of tapchangers is often done to increase the switching capacity of the diverter switch. While it is possible to connect selector switches in parallel, this is not a practical application, because selector switches are applied to small transformers where the need for paralleling is unlikely. Problems that arise in paralleling tapchangers which are common to selector switches, and diverter switches are considered.
