CHAPTER 8

Angelina opened the side door of the ambulance and stepped down. The brutal cold air hit her square in the face taking her breath away. The wind whipped her hair around as her gaze scanned the area. The Warriors stood around the ambulance, silent as if they were statues. Their eyes met hers as she slowly walked toward the back, her gaze searching for the one Warrior she wanted to see more than anything. She was a fool, she knew, but right now she just didn’t care.

Just as she rounded to the back side of the ambulance her arm was yanked turning her toward a pissed off Rodney. “Who in the fuck do you think you are?” He hissed in her face. Hearing the growls around her she decided right then and there to save his stupid ass life.

As she started to push him away, he disappeared when Adam slammed him to the ground. “She is my fucking Mate you son of a bitch. That’s who she is and if you ever lay a hand on her again or talk to her in that way, I will kill you. Do you understand me?”

To say she was upset seeing Rodney laying on his back staring up at Adam in fear would be a total lie. The guy was an asshole know it all who seemed to hate women who knew more than him. He was condescending even while he showed her the back of the ambulance as if she was a child.

Steve walked over and picked up Rodney. “I think he understands but guess we should make sure.” Steve said looking at Rodney. “Nod three times if you understand that if you ever, and I mean ever, touch or talk to her like you did…you will die a very slow, excruciating death.”

Rodney nodded three times without looking Angelina’s way.

“Now get the fuck out of here.” Steve gave him a shove, then looked at Angelina. “How is she?”

Angelina looked around at all the Warriors staring at her waiting for her response. “She is talking, but it’s still early. She’s lost a lot of blood.”

“I want her fired.” Rodney’s voice grated on her nerves so bad which was sad. She just met him hours ago and she already wanted to smack him.

“Great. First day on the job and I’m fired already.” Angelina sighed then stepped around Adam to confront the shitstorm that had become her life. “Lonnie I’m sorry, but—”

“Sorry ain’t going to cut it when you hijack my damn ambulance.” Rodney cut her off rudely. He then glanced at Adam who took a step forward, but once again she cut Adam off.

“It’s not your ambulance asshole, it belongs to the taxpayers.” Angelina informed him, then turned her attention back to Lonnie. “I’m sorry, but there was a serious injury, and I was assisting Dr. Slade Buchanan who is still working on the patient.”

“Who by the way threatened my life.” Rodney added pointing to the back of the ambulance.

“Shocker.” Steve snorted loudly.

“I just may press charges.
