Chapter Thirteen

Riley stared at the ceiling while Eren slept next to him. After two rounds, he’d thought he’d be passed out too, but the wavy gold lines on the ceiling kept his attention.

He also wanted to simply appreciate the moment. Eren had one arm over him, and his tail was wrapped around Riley’s thigh. He could almost fool himself into thinking that they never had to leave, and he rubbed small circles on the back of Eren’s wrist.

His tiredness eventually pulled him down, and he made use of it to check the memories.

Rezel must not have thought of too many knick-knacks when he created this home. Since demons and angels lived for so long, they had plenty of time to collect more stuff. Scaradan seemed to love their new house, and Riley watched them walk around.

It wasn’t long before they decided to make use of the bed.

Riley sighed and walked into one of the sitting rooms since he didn’t feel like watching Rezel get pounded into the bed. Dear God, he was noisy. The naked statue wasn’t there, and a lot of other bits were missing.

The little silver jewelry box was on a shelf. It seemed Scaradan had already removed his seraph side. How did he get away with that and not anger Baal? He must have some good excuse or reasoning. He could have even said that God took it away as punishment. Actually, that would seem pretty likely because truly, He probably wouldn’t want a bunch of seraphim running around.

Whatever extra powers seraphim had didn't matter now. Eren had tried a couple of spells before they went in, and they hadn't been more powerful or different. He also said he felt the same except for his wings. His poison was the same too.

Being a seraph probably meant there was magic he could learn, but it didn’t exist anymore. Rezel and Scaradan had likely made sure to erase that too so no one would question it centuries later.

Rezel and Scaradan were still being loud, so Riley plugged his ears to block out all of the moaning as he walked around and waited. Finally, they seemed to have finished, and he peeked in.

Oh, God, of course, they wouldn’t bother to cover themselves while they lay together on the bed. Riley looked at their hands, and sure enough, they had the gold rings.

“This house is beautiful,” said Scaradan. “I can’t believe you thought of all of this. Everything’s so different."

"It's entirely ours too, but we should go back now. We'll have plenty of time later to live here.”

Scaradan wrinkled his nose. “You’re right. I can’t wait to stay here for good.”

“It won’t be long since Noah is nearly done.”

Scaradan snorted. “All of the humans around there think he’s insane. They think there won’t be a flood, and that he’s a crazy man for building a big boat.”

“They’ll find out the hard way.” Rezel sat up and reached for his discarded clothing.

Riley felt something move against him as he woke up in the bed.
