Well, you can’t beat that with a stick. Curvy — check. That’s me, all around. I got the big breasts, the slim waist, and an ass that you could set a drink on. Hell yeah. Educated — check. I have a degree in chemistry from one of the top schools in the South. And I’m applying for grad schools in the fall. Woman of color — check! That color is a delightful golden brown.

I don’t know what had possessed me to look at this profile on Match. He didn’t list his race. He didn’t list his actual job. (“Billionaire” is not a job, as far as I knew.) And he didn’t list anything else about him. I figured most of the women contacting him were probably nasty gold-diggers. But hell, there was something about that ad that appealed to me. You’d think it was the “billionaire” part, but I’m not that girl. I’m a girl who knows most men are intimidated by a strong, smart woman. And Lord help you if you’re a strong, smart woman of color. Men usually don’t like that combo — and I’d found that out the hard way many times. At 23, I was still a virgin. This strong, smart black woman with curves in all the right places didn’t appeal to most of the dudes back home. And I tell you what right now — they didn’t appeal to me either. So, if I don’t know what possessed me to look, I do know what possessed me to send a response.
