The next morning when I woke up, the smell of I Am King filled my nostrils. Mone was either here or had already left the room. When I turned my head to the right, he was slumped down in a chair next to my bed. In one hand he held his cellphone and in the other he held mine. When I removed my hand from his hold, his eyes opened. Confusion covered my face for a minute because if I hadn't of known any better, it looked as if he had been crying. His eyes were puffy and bloodshot red.

“When did you get here?” I asked as I watched a single tear fall from his eye.

“I saw him Destiny.”

“You saw him who?”

“Him...our son. I got to hold him and everything before he….” another tear came down his cheek.

“Before he what Mone?”

“Before he took his...his..last breath.” As soon as those words left his mouth, tears started to stream down my face. I turned my head, closed my eyes, and said a silent prayer for my baby boy. I also asked God to forgive me for being so careless.

Mone started holding my hand again as he explained how our son was in an incubator with all kinds of tubes down his nose. How he was hanging in there and fighting for his life. Mone even got the chance to pick him up and hold his little fingers. While he was filling out the necessary paperwork with one of the nurses, the doctor came in and told him that our child stopped breathing and that they tried everything to keep him alive.
