"Wow, this car is really something," Stevie said as the Barbie car flew down the highway at a speed most likely not built for something so small.

"Yeah, I don't know who they designed this thing for, but it wasn't anyone over five feet tall." Cass laughed. Joni Mitchell came on the playlist and Cass changed it quickly. "Sorry."

"No worries. Oh, did you check into your flight?" Stevie asked.

"Yeah, this morning. You?" Cass asked.

Stevie pulled out her phone. "I should probably do that." She fidgeted with the screen, then took a sharp inhale. "What the fuck?"

Cass glanced over at her, then back to the road. "What? What happened?"

"My flight's cancelled. Like, not even just delayed. Completely cancelled," Stevie said, groaning.

"Call customer service. That's super weird. Maybe it's an error," Cass suggested, nervously glancing down towards her own. She hadn't received any notifications... maybe Stevie's flight had just been cancelled for completely isolated reasons. Yeah, that could happen. Definitley likely.

Stevie held her phone to her ear. They still had plenty of time to figure out the issue. They hadn't even hit I-70 yet, so they had at least another hour before getting to the airport. Plenty of time. "I'm on hold," Stevie groaned.

"Hope you like Muzak," Cass joked.

"It's worse. It's really jaunty piano."

"Oh, that is worse."

"Want me to check your phone for you to see if your flight is okay?" Stevie asked, already reaching for Cass' phone in one of the drink holders.

"Uh, sure—"

"What's your passcode?"

"1942."

"Yaya's birth year?"

"Uh, yeah, how'd you know that?" Cass asked, blinking in surprise.

"She's as much my Yaya as yours," Stevie said, holding her phone between her shoulder and ear as she flipped through Cass' apps. "Wow. This is impossible. How many photo apps do you need?"

"They all do different things." Cass wrinkled her brow as she glanced over toward Stevie. "They're all important."

"Sure." Stevie rolled her eyes, tapping on the screen. "Okay, uhhh... well, at least yours only says delayed. It's delayed for three hours."

"Fuck, really?" Cass sighed. "Well, better delayed than—"

"Oh, there it goes. Just changed to cancelled." Stevie held the phone up to show Cass.

"What the hell?" Cass asked, taking the next exit. She pulled into the parking lot of a gas station and grabbed her own phone, calling customer service. She was immediately put on hold.

"Jaunty piano?" Stevie asked, twisting to lean on the window.

Cass laid her head back on her headrest. "Nope, uh... I think it's jazz flute."

"Ooh, classy."

Cass laughed. "They've spared no expense."

Approximately forty-five minutes of jaunty piano and jazz flute later, Cass and Stevie were staring at each other in the kind of wild-eyed rage that can only come after talking with an airline customer service representative who has told you all flights to Nashville and the surrounding area were cancelled for the next two days. Given the sheer amount of passengers trying to fly around the holidays, the earliest they could get home was Tuesday or Wednesday. Cass had booked a flight for Tuesday night, but Stevie hadn't been able to get one until Wednesday.
