Can we have the courage to push through our own discomfort to suddenly discover what’s on the other side of it—perhaps our love for the world? Can we be aware without despair? Awareness can prompt prayer. Or ongoing financial support. Or action. By pushing past the dark coats of discomfort and fear in our wardrobe, might we find Aslan waiting for us?

During the final hours of my year-end holiday, instead of sulking about the end of my vacation I let my heart be stirred once more, opened my computer, and may have helped catalyze systemic change—change that could save the lives of precious children half a world away.
