“I thought you’d be back once you heard about Dani,” True said, walking by Faith with an empty tray as she headed towards the bar. Faith had been heading for the kitchen; it didn’t take two and two to work out why.

Faith frowned and mentally kicked herself. “I’m here to offer my support.”

“The same way you paraded all single witches in front of the bear shifter, hoping to find a mate?” Hope asked, coming from the other direction. “I’m still miffed at that one.”

“In my defence…”

“Nope, too soon,” Hope said. “Save it for Dani; she got thrown under the poop guy’s mating bus.”

“And Faith found out that karma is a vampire,” True said, snorting a chuckle.

Faith placed her hands on her hips and eyed the ceiling as she considered it. “Accidents happen.”

“They seem to follow you around,” True said, smiling.

“Not to me,” Faith said, bringing her gaze down and eyeing her sister with intense scrutiny.

“Are you threatening me?” True asked, changing her stance, ready for a magic spat of give and take.

Faith tossed up a hand. “Not to you, der, to the vampire.”

True’s mouth opened, but she was too busy considering what that would look like to answer. Hope jumped right in her place.

“I never thought I would feel sorry for a vamp, but I suddenly do,” she said, frowning at Faith.

“Meh,” Faith said, waving that thought away. “He’s had enough time on the earth; I will just put him out of his misery and alleviate my problems all in one act of mercy.”

True shook her head. “You can be truly evil sometimes.”

Faith offered her a wicked little grin as mischief danced in her eyes. “And I’m your sister, lucky you!”

True scowled. “And Satan worked for God at one point; what’s your point?”

Hope snorted a chuckle as Faith cocked an eyebrow at her sister. “I’m going to see Dani now.”

“I hope she feels forgiving,” True said.

“I’d watch for flying saucers,” Hope said.

“Aliens?” True asked, confused and distracted by the sparkle of no good in her sister’s eyes.

“No, plates,” Hope said, rolling her eyes as she headed for the bar. “What is wrong with everyone today? It’s like being in the Twilight Zone, and I’m the only one who knows it.”
