Abalone Woman arrived at her daughterâs classroom and told the children about her dream. The dream had taught her that although we are all different, we have so many things in common.
We all need food, a safe home, family and friends we love and who love us, exercise, and clean air and water.
When all we see are differences, we may be overcome by fear. Our fear may cause us to hurt others, but in doing so we are also hurting ourselves. When we see the humanity in others, we learn from each other. We enrich each otherâs lives.
The following week, when Abalone Woman returned to the school, each of the children had brought something that represented their culture.
