Chapter 14 - Charlotte

My mind raced as I laid in bed thinking about where Gianni could be. My emotions were all over the place, especially since Sonny still hadn’t mentioned anything to me about knowing who took my daughter. My plan so far had been to wait until he told me the truth because I knew he would only lie if I confronted him. My patience for that plan had run out though because I wanted to spit in his fucking face every time he was in my presence. I’d even been sleeping on the couch ever since I’d overheard his conversation to avoid him touching any part of my body. Of course he thought my distance was because of Gianni and that was true, but my hatred for him was deeper than that now.

Missing Gianni and having sex with Rafael also had my head spinning. Rafael was my only confidante at the time and I couldn’t help but wonder if sleeping with him was a mistake. He’d become distant in the past couple of days so I didn’t know what to think. I needed him, as my friend and his cold shoulder approach had me worried. Jumping out of bed, I was ready to confront him so I slipped on some workout clothes I had on the floor by my bed. He was my ticket to helping me get my daughter back and I needed answers. I had to know where we stood.

Irritated at the sound of Sonny’s voice belting from his office, my heart sunk. As soon as one of the security guards, Bryan spotted me, he closed the door like he didn’t want me to hear what Sonny was up to. I was used to Sonny’s secretive behavior, so normally that wouldn’t have bothered me. However, since Gianni still wasn’t home I needed to know what the closed door meeting was about. Still on a mission to find Rafael I played my curiosity off for now and went to the kitchen to grab my morning smoothie that the chef prepared for me daily. After walking through every room possible, Rafael was nowhere to be found.

Maybe he’s off today, I thought even though Sonny’s goons were on call twenty-four seven.

I then decided to go eavesdrop on Sonny. Running up the steps, I walked into our master bathroom and up to the door beside Sonny’s sink. I then punched in the four digit code that only Sonny and I had access to. If the average person walked into the bathroom, I’m sure they thought it was a linen closet or something. Seconds later, the door opened revealing the back staircase that led to Sonny’s office. Closing the door behind me, I quietly walked down the stairs heading to the fake bookcase. I sat there quietly and listened as I sipped my smoothie. When I realized Sonny had the person on speakerphone, I now understood why Bryan had closed the door earlier.

“All I need to know is, how the hell did you guys let her get the little girl? Who the fuck allowed this?” Sonny belted.
