Chapter Twenty-one

It was just after one in the morning, and Sienna Petrocelli was asleep in her bed when her phone began to ring. She glanced at the time and then answered the phone.

“Hello.”

“There was a shooting at Dime Piece earlier tonight,” the caller said. “Word is that our boy sent four BBKs after her. They’re dead.”

“Ryder?”

“Looking at her now.”

Sienna shook her head in disgust at the position that Truck had put them in. “Thanks.”

“No problem.”

“Yes, it is a problem,” she shot back quickly. “Next time, I need to know before he does some stupid shit, not hours after!” Sienna ended the call and sat up in bed.

It was beyond her why nobody could get Truck to see that fucking with Ryder was not the smart play. She was an acting captain in Mike Black’s organization, and Sienna knew that attempting to assassinate her could get them into a war that she knew they couldn’t win. She dialed a number.

“’Sup, Sienna?” Brendon asked.

“Truck sent a team to Dime Piece.”

“Dumbass.”

“Go check it out and call me back.”

“Sure you don’t want me to just kill him and be done with it?”

Sienna chuckled. “You know I do, but . . .”

“It is not what Kordell wants.”

“And that ends the discussion, so until I tell you differently, that is the direction we’re going.”

“I’m just saying that maybe you could talk to Mr. Collette.”

“I’m just saying that maybe you should go do what I told you to do and stop thinking about what I should do.” Sienna ended the call with Brendon and tried to call Kordell but got no answer on his cell phone. She dialed another number.

“Action.”

“It’s Sienna. Is Kordell there?”

“He was, and I didn’t see him leave, but you know that doesn’t mean anything.”

“I know. I’m coming up there. Call me back if you see him and tell him that I’m on my way there now.”

“Will do.”

Sienna ended the call and got out of bed to shower and get ready. As she dressed in a blue LaQuan Smith sculpted crystal-embellished cut-out minidress with Manolo Blahnik suede pumps, she thought about how she came to work for Kojo and for whom she really worked. She was the daughter of Casper Petrocelli, a made man in the Curcio family. He ran his operations from a carpet cleaning business that he ran with his wife Lucía. But Casper was muscle with no head for business, so Lucía ran the carpet cleaning business and controlled his gambling, extortion, and protection rackets from behind the scenes. When Lucía was murdered by a bullet meant for Casper, at seventeen, Sienna, who had grown up in both businesses, took over the operation of his rackets from behind the scenes as her mother had for years.

When Casper died of a heart attack, despite knowing that Sienna ran the business, Big Tony allowed violent men with stronger wills to take the business from her, and just like that, she was out. And that might have been the end of her story, but
