âCan you come with me, Papá?â
âYou can do it by yourself, miâjo. Querer es poder. Where thereâs
a will, thereâs a way.â
Francisco had a willâthere had to be a way.
Dressed in a new shirt, Francisco walked
past TÃo Titoâs, Abuelaâs, and TÃa Claraâs
houses, and walked right to the tree.
He climbed it and picked one mango. He put the mango under his chin,
climbed down, and placed it in his fatherâs hat. He did it again, and again,
and again. Soon he had a lot of red, ripe, juicy mangos! He gathered up
Papáâs hat and started home. When he got to crabby TÃa Claraâs house,
he stopped. Although laughter could be heard from TÃo Titoâs and
Abuelaâs homes, no sound came from TÃa Claraâs house.
