Lacey woke up alone in the early afternoon of the next day. Her body was extremely stiff and sore from all the attention the men had paid her throughout the night. She had thought her husbands would allow her to sleep after she had bathed the second time, but that assumption had been far from the truth. The night had not ended until the wee hours of the morning and only after she had cried and begged for a reprieve.

Lacey hurt terribly, but save heating water for another bath, she had no idea what might ease the pain, and lugging water up and down the stairs several times was an impossibility in her condition. She considered asking Olga for help, but Olga had enough responsibilities. A cold water wash did not sound pleasant, but it might have to do for now.

Slowly making her way to the armoire, Lacey stopped in front of the looking glass. She frowned at the large handprint on the inside of her left thigh. More bruises, in the shape of fingers, marred her hips, stark and vivid against her pale skin. Opening her legs and tilting her hips slightly, Lacey could see just how remorselessly they had indulged in the pleasures of her cunny. Her most delicate flesh was a moderate shade of red, and her entrance was swollen and tender to the touch. Lacey closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She had no desire to repeat any of it and was sorely afraid of her husbands’ continued desire to touch her. Lacey’s naiveté had worked against her last night; she had been painfully ignorant that a person could find release so many times. Even her breasts ached, swollen and heavy from the continual kneading, laving, and sucking.

Lacey was far from convinced that her body would grow accustomed to the men’s needs, as they had so eloquently told her, and the display of whisker scratches all over her body lent credence to her doubts. Groaning, she turned away from the terrible reflection in the looking glass and then, after dressing in yesterday’s clothing, proceeded to leave the room. Wanting to be clean, Lacey sought out Olga to ask for a clean pot of warm water, unable to stomach the idea of adding cold water to her list of discomforts.

“Get yourself back upstairs, young lady. I’ve already got Rachael and Rebekah heating fresh bath water for you.” Olga had a certain sparkle in her eye that told Lacey she had knowledge of what had transpired throughout the night. “Lance told me you would want a bath once you awoke.”

After bathing and eating, Lacey assured Olga that she could manage on her own for the remainder of the day. “Besides, I shall be with Lilly and Luella until it is time for supper. In fact, if I can find good reason, I plan to avoid my husbands altogether and stay the night at Lilly’s,” she told her. Olga grunted her disapproval but, thankfully, did not say a word to stop her.
