I was rushing around trying to find my keys. “I swear will I ever be an on time person?” I asked myself. The clock showed that I was ten minutes late for dinner so I needed to get a move on. I finally found my keys on the kitchen counter.

“Aha!” I snatched them up and ran to my car. As I was backing out of the driveway, I checked my makeup in the mirror. It was perfect, minus my lipstick which I planned to put on when I got to the restaurant.

The drive to the restaurant was busy so I was able to weave around a few cars and shave some minutes off my time. I was fortunate enough to get a close park and I applied my lipstick as quickly as possible.

“Great. Okay here I go.”

I went into The One and walked up the hostess. She smiled. “May I help you?”

“Yes I am meeting a party here. Under Thompson.”

“Yes ma’am they are here. I will escort you back.”

“Thank you.” I followed the hostess back and smiled when I noticed I was going to the same booth I had the horrible date on. Donovan smiled when he saw me as he stood up.

“Hey baby,” he said as he gave me a soft kiss.

“Hi.” I slid in and he slid in beside me. I reached over to hug Donovan’s mom and her husband.

I looked over at Donovan. “Did you pick this booth?”

He started laughing. “I wanted another chance with this restaurant.”

Donovan’s mother was perplexed. “What is wrong with this restaurant?”

“Well, it was horrible!” I said.

Donovan interjected. “I don’t think it was that bad.”

“Ha-ha,” I chuckled as I put my engaged hand up to stop him. “No mom, it was horrible.” I went on to explain how my fiancé of 3 months had ruined our first date.
