“Hello. I’m here to see Mr. Peter Fisher,” Marisol greeted.

“Do you have an appointment?” the secretary asked.

“Well…Yes. Actually, I do. You tell him Sara Carter’s sister is here.”

“Who?” the receptionist said, with considerable acerbity.

“Sara Carter. Should I spell it,” Marisol shot back.

“One moment,” the woman said, as she picked up the phone. Marisol waited as the woman announced her presence. Soon she hung up and gave the dreaded look of a person with bad news to relay.

“I’m sorry. He is busy at the moment. Should I make you an appointment?” she asked.

“No you shouldn’t. I’ll take that meeting now. Get back on your phone and tell him I am on my way,” she said, causing the secretary to spring from her chair.

“What is it with you over-zealous, over-protective secretaries. Does his wife know your interest levels exceed normal range? Follow me all you want but if you touch me, we will have a problem of a different kind,” Marisol warned, as she looked on the doors of offices she passed.

“Ma’am please. You can’t just barge in his office,” the woman cautioned. Marisol stopped to give her a briefing.

“This man smacked a twenty two year old college bound student. Right now, she’s sitting at home wondering what she did to deserve such treatment. Wondering why the world, her mother told her would be her oyster, has turned out to be little more than sediment. You work for scum. He gets no respect from me. I have a bone to pick. I can start with you if you like. Its better if I take the heat to the source don’t you think,” Marisol said, stepping closer to the woman.

The woman swallowed hard as she nervously looked around. She could see Marisol would not be deterred.

“So you ignore my secretary…,” a voice said in the distance. Marisol turned around to face him.

“How can I help you Miss…,” Peter said.

“Its Misses. And I am not here for a formal introduction. I need only a second of your time.”

Peter held his arm out gesturing Marisol to enter his office. She walked past him glancing back at his secretary as she entered. All forms of battle included casualties of war. She didn’t mean to do damage. The secretary was blocking a necessary invasion. This man had hurt someone innocent. Sweet. Inexperienced. The missiles were deployed.

Peter walked over to his desk and removed a cigar then sat down and pulled his lighter.

“You smoke in your office?” Marisol asked.

“Yes, I do. I own this building. I do as I please,” Peter replied.

“Interesting! Is that your position? Things you feel are yours you get to do with as you please. Is that why I’m looking into the bruised eye of a young woman,” Marisol criticized.

“I’m sorry. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I would love to hear the rest of that poor girl’s story but I just don’t have the time. Make an appointment next time you want to embellish stories,” Peter said.

Marisol could see Sara attraction to the handsome and confidant man with grey hair that complimented his fine lines and distinct look.
