And, as we learned last week, the balance sheet will only tell you the company's health at a specific point in time." My professor spouted on and on to the point that I thought I might put my head on my desk and summon Rook through a dream.

Wouldn't that be nice…until my moans of pleasure took the attention off of the lecture, though there was no guarantee that I actually made noise... Still, it might be best to stay awake, unfortunately.

Even though my eyes were open, my mind kept drifting to the dream I had the night before. Should I even call it a dream?

It was real, Rook had explained. And he sure seemed especially interested to know what I thought of Cross. Though the way he asked was… I clenched my thighs together. I still wasn't satisfied after taking care of myself once last night and once this morning. A small part of my brain whispered that I wouldn't be satisfied until I'd had Rook inside me again.

I snapped my pen down on the table, unable to accept the idea, which drew a few curious glances from my classmates. It was probably obvious to everyone that I wasn't paying attention, too busy thinking about Rook and Cross.

And what did I think of Cross? I tapped my fingers against my lips and closed my eyes.

I could still see the way his dark eyes examined me at the bar. Had he been flirting with me? My stomach tightened, and I realized that the thought of Cross undressing me with his eyes made me weak in the knees.

But I couldn't even go there.

My blood bond was with Rook. And he had made it perfectly clear that he didn't want any other vampires around me. That was the point of sending Cross to guard me. At least, I thought it was.

If it was, why had he seemed interested in me being attracted to Cross? And didn't he imply at one point that Cross was attracted to me too?

The professor got up from the perch he used while lecturing and grabbed a stack of papers from behind the lectern. My stomach dropped.

"Now, let's see how you all did on your exams." The professor's monotone voice broke through the remaining wisps of thoughts I had about Rook.

He handed out the tests from the week prior. His slow, lumbering pace around the classroom spoke of his lack of enthusiasm for his job. Meanwhile, my heart was beating faster as I anticipated the bad grade I would get.

The only question was, how bad was it going to be?

Finally, I heard him coming up the aisle next to my desk, and when my test papers smacked down on the desk in front of me, I cringed. It looked like the poor thing was bleeding from multiple stab wounds.

At the top was a note, circled three times, that said, "Please see me after class.
