What the hell was going on?

My entire life had flipped upside down over the course of two weeks. My dating life had been sparse to non-existent previously, and I wasn’t planning to date anyone for a long time.

Suddenly, not only was I dating Keiran, a guy I’d only just met but already come to care about, but both my stepbrothers crawled out of the woodwork to ask me out. Somehow I’d turned into a man magnet. I wasn’t even sure what sparked the revolution in my dating opportunities. It was shocking enough that one stepbrother wanted to go out with me, but two?

Without my stepbrothers’ offers, I would continue to date Keiran and see where that went. I liked him.

As it was, the suggestions tore my heart in three equal pieces. If only I could see into the future and predict how a relationship with each man would unfold.

Yes, I cared for Keiran, and dating him was the easiest path.

But I had longed for my strong, kind, handsome stepbrothers my entire adult life. For years, I’d wanted to find someone exactly like them, a man who might take control but with good morals. The twins were my models for finding a man.

And suddenly, each one of them was interested in me romantically. How could I pass up that opportunity?

OMG.

I opened my front door to find one of my roommates with a textbook on the couch.

“Hey, Katie, what are you doing?”

“Research on dyslexia. We have to pick a learning disorder and write an essay on it for my child development class.”

“Oh... Okay, well, I’ll leave you to that,” I said, a little disappointed that she didn’t have time to talk to me. I could do with talking things through.

But Katie noticed I wasn’t my usual self; being who she was, she put her book down. “What? What is it? What’s wrong?”

I glanced down the hall. “Who else is home?”

I wanted to talk to someone about this, but Katie was the only person I trusted. I didn’t want anyone else to hear us.

“Nobody, they’re all either in class or at work.”

I sat down. “I have something kind of crazy to say, and I don’t want you to judge me for it.”

She grabbed a pillow and put it in her lap. “Okay, shoot.”

Until then, nobody knew about my feelings for my brothers, and I felt uneasy confessing it all out loud.

“Well, for the past few years, I’ve had a bit of a crush on Ian and Jasper. Desires, you could say.”

Katie laughed. “Uh, yeah, no joke.”

I furrowed my brow. “You knew?”

“Elisha, I see the way you look at them. And who can blame you? Your brothers are insanely hot. Like, completely, freaking gorgeous. And you are just a helpless female like the rest of us all. We can’t help but swoon over those guys.”

I was relieved to hear her say this. “You don’t think it’s weird?”

“No. I don’t think it’s too abnormal. I mean, it’s a little awkward, considering your family titles.
