The next morning around seven o’clock, I parked the Beamer in Rich’s yard. He and Pops had already gone and copped the rental for us to head to The M-I- Yayo. Pops wished us a safe trip and left. Me and Rich had loaded the whip with the work that we would drop off. Rich slid under the driver’s seat. I got on the passenger side, and we hit the slab going every bit of eight miles per hour. The sound of Kendrick Lamar’s tune, ‘Swimming Pools’, flowed from the speakers.

I bobbed my head to the music and happened to glance over my shoulder. I noticed the black Ford truck that had been giving me problems to the right of me. I removed my heater from the waistband of my pants and held my finger on the trigger. I was about to let off some rounds when I noticed that it was an elderly black lady probably in her mid-seventies with gray hair driving looking straight ahead.

“Ay, nigga, what the fuck is you doing?” Rich asked and looked upside my head like I was crazy.

I put the steel back on my waistline. “Man, every since my whip got bombed and then I got run off the road, I been on ‘noid. Er’ time I see a truck like that one, I get ready to squeeze the trigger. It’s a mothafucka ‘round here that wanna see me dead. And, we already bodied ole’ boy that set me up at the club. So, he’s eliminated,” I went on to say.

“We need to find him quick and give him his issue before you put a bullet in somebody’s grandma’s dome.” He took a deep breath and let it out before bobbing his head to the beat flooding the speakers.

I scooted down in the seat thinking to myself that whoever had beef wit’ me better have the Almighty on his side. Because when we met up again, he’d need God for protection.
