3 Research Aims and Objectives

According to existing literature, there are very few examples of holistic energy efficiency efforts in the shipping industry. Integrated efficiency management between port and fleet requires detailed analytical research. The research gap in existing literature leads this study to develop a holistic approach towards integrated energy efficiency of shipping. In other words, this paper aims to specifically focus on the inter-operability of different management systems of the ship-port interface in order to increase energy efficiency more holistically. The primary objectives of this study are as follows:Applying Bayesian Belief Network modelling to identify nodes of the integrated system to understand port and fleet operation inter-operability in a more coherent way.
