I wish Desmond would just let me go. I never thought things would get as bad as they had between us. I moved back to my mom’s house because I couldn’t take living with Havoc any more. Every time I turned around he was doing something disrespectful. Never mind the fact that I was eight months pregnant and he wanted to beat my ass every time I turned around. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted a healthy baby and I wanted a healthy relationship. I was also sick of those birds chirping my name. If it wasn’t for Tyler I think I would’ve lost my mind.

My mom barged into my room with both hands full of shopping bags.

“What have you been out buying now ma? I thought I told you that the baby has all the stuff he needs.” I took some of the shopping bags from her and started looking through them as she sat the rest on my bed.

“Shawn had his mother drop these off. You know we do lunch every Friday and she gave these to me and told me Shawn said to give them to you. There are more things in the car. Do you have something you need to tell me?” She gave me the side eye and then headed back downstairs to get the rest of the stuff. I guess she was giving me a chance to get my mind right before I spoke on it.

While she was out getting the rest of the things out of the car I looked through the bags to see what Shawn has gotten my son. I saw tons of clothes, bibs, bottles and other shit babies needed. My mom came back in the room with two large boxes of diapers and told me that there were more bags downstairs. She then sat down on my bed and gave me an envelope.

“Iman Chanel Jones, you better tell me what the hell is going on. First you get pregnant and then move out with that heathen Desmond. Now you have moved back in and Shawn ass is buying your baby stuff. Am I missing something here, or is Desmond not the father of your child?” My mom’s always said things in a way that made me want to curse her out. If she was not my mom, I more than likely would have.

“It’s nothing mama. You know Shawn and I are friends. Nothing more, nothing less. You shouldn’t have accepted this stuff though.” My mama wasn’t really listening to me. She was going through the things that Shawn had sent over.

“I don’t think this is for the baby Iman.” She handed me a Tiffany’s box that was in the bottom of one of the bags. “You can also save those lies you’re telling me. If you have something going on with Shawn, or if that’s his baby you are carrying, you need to be honest about it. Keeping secrets like this and fucking with a nigga like Desmond’s feelings is not a thing you want to do.
