When Maggie says she wants to stay here with us, my heart feels like it’s trying to beat out of my chest. I’ve hoped for this moment since I met Maggie, but there was a part of me that worried and questioned if we would ever be at this point. I can’t help the super loud purr that comes pouring out of me. Maggie giggles as she lifts me up to place a kiss on the end of my nose.

“You three have become my entire world. Not because of the gold, or the cabin, or even the stupendous sex.” Finn and Shad chuckle but don’t interrupt her. “It’s because you guys have been here for me more in the last few months than anyone has been for me since my parents died. You don’t gloss over my faults. instead, you try your damnedest to help me manage them. The utter acceptance I feel with you is better than anything I’ve actively looked for in a relationship. I want to show you guys the same acceptance in return.”

“Maggie, that’s what you’ve been doing for us since the day we met. Like I told you before, you could have left me in the tree. Sure, I have magic and could have gotten myself out, but you stopped and helped. Without hesitation, you committed to helping an unknown trapped animal get out of a tree. You didn’t think about the risk, or the danger. You jumped in and did what was needed. Then you let me come home with you like a stray kitten.” Rubbing my head against Maggie’s jaw I shower her with affection. I’m so grateful she let me come home with her.

“I didn’t think about the danger until you threatened to eat me.” Maggie grins at me as the guys chuckle.

“Pfft. It was a poorly timed joke. I had no intention of eating you.” Tipping my nose up in the air I do my best to use a haughty tone, hoping to make Maggie giggle.

“That’s our job anyway,” Shad says sassily.

“I’m so glad you’ve decided to stay, Maggie.” Finn’s voice is choked with emotion, and he presses his face to Maggie’s hair as he holds her close.

I shake my head at my brothers. So predictable. Shad always uses humor to deflect from how deeply he experiences emotions. Finn gets quiet and gruff to the point you might think he’s upset if you don’t know him. Maggie sits between them, a hand over her head buried in Finn’s hair and the other holding tight to Shad’s fingers, while I relax on her stomach. She’s our anchor in the storm.
