When I return, she’s sitting on the edge of the marble sunken tub. I take a moment just to observe her, beautiful and brilliant and perfect.

“Any thoughts?” I ask with a grin.

She startles. “Oh! Spencer! I didn’t even realize you were back.”

“Good thing no one else tried to sneak in here,” I tease. “You might not have even noticed, and I don’t want anyone else to see you like this.”

“I’m such a mess,” she replies.

“You’re gorgeous, and I don’t want to share you,” I say.

Her gentle smile is so enchanting I lose track of everything else for a moment.

“There’s no use spending the next hour in the bathroom,” I tell her. “That door leads to Louis’s room. Why don’t we wait in there?”

“Are you sure he won’t be upset?” she asks.

“He’ll be busy with the party for hours.”

Besides, he still owes me for that time I walked in on him and two sorority girls back in college.

“Okay,” she says. I love how easily she trusts me. It’s intoxicating, like pretty much everything else about her.

“Come on,” I say, offering her my hand and leading her into Louis’s bedroom.
