A Little Background

Chris Crepeau has been a member of eBay since August 1997.

Chris is a Missouri Auction School Graduate, an active member of the National Auctioneers Association ( www.auctioneers.org ), an eBay mentor with the Disabled Online Users Association ( www.doua.org ), member of the Michigan State Auctioneers Association ( www.msaa.org ), eBay Education Specialist, member of the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance (one of the largest selling groups on eBay and formerly the eBay Elite), a Silver PowerSeller, an eBay Trading Assistant, an eBay Motors Dealer’s Assistant trained by eBay, a CAGA Certified Appraiser, State of Michigan licensed real estate sales person, and State of Michigan licensed Automobile broker.

Michigan Auction Sales is based in Lansing. Our goal is to take all the hassles, inconveniences, and wasted time out of selling an automobile or any other item, while maximizing the financial return for our clients. We handle all aspects of each sale, from pre-sale inspections, to advertising, marketing, and even legal transfer of ownership.

Chris Crepeau—username michauctionsales—is a sometimes part-time, sometimes full-time eBay seller. He began selling on eBay because of his live auction business.

As a live auctioneer, I am always looking for ways to reach more potential bidders. Since my business is in a somewhat economically depressed area, we often see items go for more on eBay than they would at one of our live auctions.

Becoming a PowerSeller was not a goal for Chris, yet after several years of selling, he became one. He believes it was during the first year of the program that he became a PowerSeller.

We didn’t even realize that the PowerSeller status existed at the time until eBay notified us that we had achieved it. Once we were PowerSellers, we always thought it was nice when we’d jump to the Titanium level after selling a high dollar asset. We are currently back to Silver, but most recently, we were Titanium PowerSellers.

Chris sells about 40-100 items a week. Most of the items are smaller, but sometimes the sales include items such as boats, RVs, cars, trucks, and heavy equipment. He finds most people notice his listings because he categorizes the items correctly and starts his auctions with no reserve and a $.01 starting bid. The average starting price for his items is anywhere from $.01 to $.99.

Sometimes if the demand is low, we will put a higher bid, but mostly no-reserve $.01 sales. If you research the item and conclude that the demand is there, you will do well.

Although he does not make his own items to sell, Chris has sold handmade items for others. He said the market for these types of items does vary. He gets his items from different places.

They are mostly consignments from other private individuals, banks, businesses, and government agencies. Auctions and Estate Sales are excellent places to buy items for resale on eBay!

Chris uses the Selling Manager Pro listing software.
