Isopropyl alcohol solution 45.5% by volume (45.5 ml isopropyl alcohol to 100 ml water or diluting 65 ml 70% isopropyl alcohol to 100 ml water)

Mazola corn oil

Copper wire

Cork to fit 18 mm test tubes

Glass stirring rods

Acetone

Bunsen burner

Beaker, 50 ml

Beaker 250 m

Tongs or forceps

Ring stand with gauze

Test Procedure

Water Test:

Place about 5 ml of water in a test tube. Start with one of the pieces of plastic. Note whether the samples floats or sinks. If the samples do not respond in the same manner, try another sample. Save the samples that floated for the alcohol test.
