**Chapter 15**
“Bitch, I am dead. Look at this crazy bitch Cardi B,” Tirzah said, laughing hysterically as she watched a video of the Instagram star on her iPad.
She and Tamera had returned home from Redbone's and were sitting Indian style on the living room sofa, scrolling through Instagram on their iPad computer tablets and drinking cups of hot cocoa. They had changed out of their clothes and were now wearing matching Minions pajamas.
“Don't know why we're drinking hot chocolate when we know that Tara's on her way over with Remy,” Tamera said once they were done laughing at Cardi B. “It's time to turn up and we're sitting here drinking hot cocoa like some lames.”
“We are some lames.”
“Speak for yourself. I ain't no lame.”
“Nigga,” Tirzah said, “you are about to get married at the age of twenty-two. It doesn't get any lamer than that. Sorry to break it to you.”
“And? You're twenty-six. What's the difference?”
“Four years is a long time. That's a long difference. You haven't even really lived yet.”
“Yeah, and neither has the boy you're about to marry.”
Tirzah cut a glance at Tamera. “I caught that shade, hoe.”
Tamera laughed and sipped her hot cocoa, which made Tirzah bust out laughing again.
“Kermit looking bitch, I can't stand you.” Tirzah put down the iPad and struggled to put on a serious face. “Listen, though. I want your honest to God opinion.”
“My opinion on what?”
“Me working at the club? Do you think I should go through with it?”
Tamera shrugged. “You're a grown woman. Without a job, I might add. I thought about that earlier. You're right. If Rell put me out today all I have to fall back on is the twenty-five grand I saved from that money I took from Shalonda. That's a lot more than I had when we were living together, but it's not enough to live on. I don't know. Maybe I should go and work there, too.”
“No. You're set. Rell's mature. It's Jah who's mentally unbalanced. If he broke up with me yesterday I can't expect for him not to do it again, and I gotta be ready.”
“What about the wedding?” Tamera asked as she set down her cup on a coaster and stretched out her legs. “I'm just asking because I'm planning to get married this summer, maybe even sooner. I really don't even wanna wait that long. Have you and Jah talked about a date?”
Tirzah shook her head and sighed. “That nigga ain't talked about a damn thing. All he wants to do is fuck and play the video game.”
Tamera fell over against Tirzah and laughed; Tirzah elbowed Tamera in the arm.
“Shit ain't funny, bitch.” Tirzah scowled.
“It really is. He ain't even eighteen yet. You act like you expected him to do something different. There's a remedy to that. All you gotta do is put that pussy on him right and then stop right in the middle of the session and make some demands. Works every time.”
Tirzah became thoughtful. She pulled at the string that extended from her pajama shirt.
