Jah didn't answer his phone when Rell called because he was far too focused on saving Dora, and he knew that Rell would only chastise him for taking the Escalade without telling anyone.

“This was supposed to be mine, anyway,” Jah muttered vacantly as he raced toward his west side neighborhood.

His teeth were clenched tight together. His two .45-caliber handguns were next to him on the passenger seat. He kept twisting his tightly gripping hands on the steering wheel and rocking back and forth, not to Young Jeezy's “Gold Bottles” song that was playing from the speakers but to his own beat.
