You may be a monster, but you’re still a prince. It’s the royal guards’ job to protect you.

You call out, “Guards! Guards! Someone is trespassing in the woods.”

The woman spins around and glares at you.

“You are not monster enough to face me alone?” she growls.

She’s taken you off guard. But you snarl back, “This is the king and queen’s private forest. The guards are on their way. Leave or you will be forced to go.”

“I’d like to see them try,” the woman says. Suddenly sharp claws grow from her fingertips. Spines sprout from her back. She growls again.

“You’re a monster?” you ask.

Before she can answer, the guards arrive.

“A monster!” one guard says.

“Stand back, your majesty. We’ll handle this,” orders another.

They surround the strange woman.
