Three options for laptop use:

1. Place your laptop on a stable surface with reams of paper or a phone book to raise it up. Find a position in which the keyboard is not too high and the screen not too low. Use a mouse on the table top.

2. Use a foot rest to raise the slant of your thighs.

3. Place an empty 2-3 inch ring binder, with the thicker edge towards your knees under the laptop.
