Phire stepped onto the porch in the early morning sunlight to drink her glass of milk. Before her pregnancy, it would have been tea or coffee, but those days were over. At least for a while.
She smiled at the thought that Maverick hadnât gotten up yet because she had worn him out. When heâd awakened her before sunrise thinking he would get a good ride off her, she had flipped him on his back and gotten a good ride off him instead.
It was hard to believe she only had two more full days to spend here with him. She definitely didnât look forward to returning to her fatherâs ranch. But at least she would have good memories of the time spent here not just with Maverick, but with Clint, Alyssa and their family, too.
Maverick had planned something for them to do every day. There had been picnics, horseback rides and cooking lessons. She couldnât help but smile at the latter. Alyssaâs Aunt Claudine had offered to teach Phire how to make several dishes that she had fallen in love with, and to her surprise, Maverick had asked to be included.
Then there were those days they just relaxed and watched television, or went swimming and hiking. Heâd made sure everything was done in moderation so as not to tire her out. However, her favorite activity was nap time because they always did more than take a nap. And, of course, she enjoyed bedtime when they would make love to the point of exhaustion, and then she would sleep through the night like a baby. And he would wake her up during the predawn hours for more sexual delight.
Tonight they would accompany Clint and Alyssa to a barn dance at one of their neighborâs ranches. She was looking forward to going, even if there would probably be more square dancing than line dancing. While in Paris, she and Maverick went dancing often, and people complimented them on how well they danced together.
âSo this is where you ran off to.â
Phire turned at the sound of Maverickâs deep voice. Her gaze immediately latched on to his bare chest and the jeans riding low on his hips before moving back to his handsome face. She was convinced that nothing looked sexier than Maverick Outlaw in the morning. But then he looked pretty darn nice at night as well.
âI didnât run off,â she said, smiling. âYouâd gone back to sleep and your baby needed some food.â
He grinned as he walked over, placed a kiss on her lips and gently rubbed her stomach. âAnd what did you feed it?â
âEggs, bacon, pancakes and milk,â she said, holding up her now empty glass. âI cooked enough to share and kept them warming in the oven.â
âThanks.â He glanced down at her stomach while still caressing it. âYou donât look pregnant.â
She laughed. âWell, for your information, I canât snap my jeans anymore, so Iâve gained weight.â
He grinned. âAre you sure itâs all baby and not those dinners weâve been enjoying?â
Phire laughed. âI have been eating a lot since coming here,â she said.
