Chapter Twelve

Chantal

The whole no more sex until we know each other thing had been a stroke of pure shit!

Chantal didn’t want to stop having sex with Rush. If she was honest with herself, she knew it had been a test that she had put him through to make sure he wasn’t like her ex. Rush had proved he wasn’t.

After agreeing to set aside the naked sexy times, Rush had cuddled with her while watching a couple of old movies. They’d only gotten dressed to open the door for the delivery guy who brought over some Italian food. Chicken penne and garlic bread didn’t exactly scream, let’s make out more.

But the chocolate mousse did.

Chantal blushed with the memory of what they had done with the sticky chocolate dessert. Rush had literally eaten it off her breasts, only to help her shower off later. They had rebooted the no-sex policy about seventeen-thousand times during the evening. In the end, they had decided that as soon as midnight struck, they would start. For real, that time.

Rush had left her tiny apartment after making out with her against the door. He’d only begrudgingly left when Mrs. Feldman had opened her own door to see what all the commotion was about. Now, the old lady was sure Chantal and Rush were pervs who dry-humped in the hall like a pair of wild teenagers.

Chantal was positively giddy. There was a lightness in her step and a smile on her face that nothing could temper. Rush had texted her before going to bed and when he had woken up. Tiny little notes had dinged on her phone throughout the day as she had worked at her sewing machine. He even had a bouquet of yellow roses delivered because, as his card read, that represented friendship, and friends they were so long as they kept their clothes on.

Never, not once in her life, had Chantal thought of herself as a sexual person. Maybe it was because her first experience, and her first boyfriend, had been so disastrous. It might even have been because her ex cheating on her had made her feel so much less than — less of a woman, less of a person.

She was starting to realize that the cheating hadn’t been about her. Not at all.

It had been all about him.

Chantal was done letting that shitty relationship dictate how she saw herself and how she felt about her body. She was damn sexy, and she knew how to dress. Had it taken an almost-one-night stand with Rush to help her figure it out? Maybe. But that didn’t change the truth of it at all.

Chantal was creative, curvy, and cute as hell.

She could take on the world one client at a time.

The knock at the door the very next night made her heart kick up. She tried not to run to the door, but it was difficult to not let herself get carried away. Rush looked way too good in his jeans and black dress shirt.
