CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

WAX ON, WAX OFF

“Trudy, you set up the appointment up at Kim Sung’s?” Samantha asked on a sunny, hot day in late April of 2000 as the girls removed notepads and textbooks from their back packs in preparation for their World History class.

“Yea. We gone have ta’ leave at lunch time so we can get in early, though.” Trudy replied.

Trudy had accumulated a little bit of interest from money she had put in a checking account whilst she was working for Asa and she had decided to take her friend out for a little shopping and to Kim Sung’s Beauty Spa so the girls could receive a bikini wax. Trudy had seen some of the girls in the gym class locker room with neatly trimmed and sometimes bald vaginas and thought the girls’ private areas looked neat. She had asked questions about it and had grown curious about getting a bikini wax. Samantha wasn’t too keen on getting a wax job, but she agreed to go when Trudy announced she was going to pay for it after she and Samantha went shopping on her dime.

Seventeen year-old Trudy, and sixteen year-old Samantha, left school at 11:30 in the morning after their ROTC class. They went to the shopping mall inside of the New York, New York Casino, and bought ballerina gowns for their junior prom and identical silk short sets for the after party, compliments of Trudy. The girls had a good day going and as they rode down the Vegas strip in Samantha’s lavender Caprice sipping bubble gum sno-balls, Samantha was blaring Destiny Child's hit song Survivor. She loved this particular song because some of the lyrics expressed the way she felt towards Manhattan in a way... “Thought that I would fail without you but I'm on top...thought it would be over now but it won't stop...thought that I would self destruct but I'm still here...even in my years to come I'm still gone be here...I'm a survivor I'm not gone give up...”

The music blared loudly across the car’s stereo as the girls cruised down the strip. Heads turned as people eyed the fresh ride that slowly paraded down the Las Vegas Strip on this hot hot spring afternoon. Trudy and Samantha were bucking in their seats yelling aloud with the music as they cruised over to the spa.

The girls made it to the spa and entered the small brick building that lay just east of downtown Vegas in a newly-built strip mall. The Kim Sung’s Spa was a dimly lit small office type building that smelled of strawberry incense and was lit up with red light bulbs and had an eighties theme to it. Trudy began to pussy-pop as she stood in the center of the room sipping her sno-ball. She was dancing to Walk Like an Egyptian by The Bangles.

“What the hell you doin'?” Samantha asked.

“Them white girls can sing!” Trudy stated as she was quickly getting into the 80’s hit pop song singing some of the
