CULINARY USES

Extracts are used as commercial flavorings for baked goods, confections, and soft drinks.

Brazilian bois de rose oil and Peruvian bois de rose oil are distilled from the variety ‘amazonica’ and contain less linalool than cayenne bois de rose oil, which is made from the species. Linalool can make up as much as 87 percent of cayenne oil. Other contributing notes come from terpenes, dipentene, methyl heptanol, eugenol, and nerol.

OTHER USES

Essential oil is used in the cosmetics industry.
