Tony was so glad when they finally reached their room. He wanted to do nothing else but go to bed. He felt dirty from all the dishes though, so he was looking forward to taking a shower and then finally pouring himself into bed.

As they walked into the room, an eerie sensation came over him.

“Somebody’s been in here,” he said.

“What do you mean?” Sean asked. He looked around the room carefully and everything looked exactly as it did that afternoon when they left.

For Tony, though, something looked wrong. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but something was different. He immediately ran over to the dresser where he had hidden the notebook. The dresser drawer had definitely been gone through. Sean looked over his shoulder and could see that his stuff had been disturbed.

“They got the notebook,” he said as he turned away.

“No they didn’t,” Sean said and reached deep into the pile of underwear and pulled out Tony’s notes. “I figured nobody would look in my underwear. You’re paranoia was catching.”

“Do you think we were set up?” Tony asked. “Did someone make that sound to get us out of here?”

Sean couldn’t help but wonder. “It certainly does seem that way,” he said. “But what do they want? And who would do it?”

They only knew of five people who knew where the room was: Aiden, Ronan, the bellboys and Alex. After everything Tony had heard about Alex at dinner he was convinced it couldn’t be her. That would leave Aiden, Ronan, or the bellboys.

As Tony ran down in his mind who, and if he could trust, he noticed Sean staring opened mouthed behind him.

Tony turned around and saw that Sean was staring at the fire in the fireplace. He looked to see if there was something in the flames that Sean must be looking at, but didn’t see anything.

“Do you see that?” Sean asked.

Tony shrugged. “See what?”

“There’s a fire in the fireplace,” Sean whispered.

“Yah?” Tony responded.

Sean looked at him wondering why he wasn’t getting this.

“We just got here,” he said finally. “We just walked in the door.”

They both immediately began to search the room, looking anywhere where someone might find a place to hide. The room was empty.

“I don’t know how to take this,” Sean said at last. “When you’re in a Five-Star hotel it might make sense for them to enter your room and do all these extra things for you, but we’re in a different situation here. I can’t help but feel like someone is either spying on us or…” his voice trailed off.

Tony shivered as he recognized what Sean was saying.

“But why would they start a fire?” he asked. “That would give them away.”

Tony sighed and sat down on the end of the couch and mindlessly flipped through his notes. He stared at the drawing of Little Fire. She truly was beautiful. Even as a gay man Tony couldn’t help but be taken by her striking beauty. Sean sat down at the other end of the couch and stared into the fire.
