THINGS ALWAYS COME IN THREES

At this point I was going to the library and the local bookstore regularly, reading everything I could get my hands on that spoke to my soul. I needed to understand what was happening to me. Back then it was not like it is today, where there are television shows and even whole cable networks devoted exclusively to metaphysical topics. I had to actively seek out the information I needed.

John Edward was already quite popular at the time. He had written several books by this point and also had a radio show on WPLJ. He was really drawing the public’s attention to the world of psychic phenomena, along with a few other pioneering mediums of the day.

I was listening to his show one day when I decided to call in. I didn’t think I could talk to him about my specific situation, but I thought, “Wouldn’t it be hot stuff if I just got a chance to speak to him in general?” I dialed the number and heard the person on the other end of the line say, “WPLJ, hold on.” I was so excited. While I was waiting my turn, John told the caller before me that her grandmother was coming through and she was showing him something that was familiar to him. He said, “Your grandmother is telling me that you once put a pin in an electrical outlet and it opened up something inside of your energy field.”

This really got my attention. The woman said, “No, I didn’t do that.” But he continued, “Well, your grandmother’s telling me that she watches you all the time. She’s your biggest spirit guide and she’s encouraging you. I don’t know why she’s showing me this. You didn’t get electrocuted or anything when you were younger?” The lady said “No, no.” She was bewildered. Meanwhile, I was thinking to myself, “Could this even be? I bet you that’s my grandmother.” I was on hold, I was probably the next caller in line, and I was almost 100 percent sure this message was for me.

There was an incident when I was five years old. It was Christmas Eve and my mother was cooking her traditional frutti di mare (aka the dinner of seven fishes). My aunt Patti was next door cooking her half of the meal because they always shared that chore. While they were getting things ready, we were all sent to play. My sister was at my cousin’s house and I was sitting by myself on the couch next to our Christmas tree just down the hall from the kitchen. I remember it like it was yesterday. First I watched some TV. The Munsters was one of my favorite shows, and I loved Batman too. When both episodes were done, I spent time looking at all the ornaments on the tree. My mother used to give us each a special one every year. After that, I got on the floor to look at the nativity scene. She always made it look so nice with fresh cotton all around it like snow.
