THE RISE OF THE GOD WATCHERS

WHEN JESUS ROSE FROM THE DEAD, HE OPENED THE DOOR for all to join His order of priests, the priesthood of Melchizedek. This is a mysteriously wonderful, enchanting priesthood that ushers all who call Jesus their Lord into an incredible lifestyle, first introduced to us by Jesus Himself as He walked the earth. The priests in this order carry the love, reality, and dreams of God Himself in their hearts.

The priesthood is named after the first priest of this New Covenant order. He made his brief appearance to Abraham, our father in faith. Here is some of what the Scripture says about Melchizedek.

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually. Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils (Hebrews 7:1-4).

The Bible says that Melchizedek was a priest:

…not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. For it is attested of Him, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 7:16-17).

Because Jesus lead the way for us, we too are in this priesthood:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession… (1 Peter 2:9).

Most of us have barely begun to discover all that it means to be a priest like Jesus, in the order of Melchizedek. But it is God’s intention for us to discover, experience, and continually walk in this eternal priesthood. God watchers discover who they are and all they can experience in this priesthood.

You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth (Revelation 5:10).

WHO DO WE LISTEN TO?

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known (1 Corinthians 13:12).

True God watchers refine their vision moment to moment. They rarely take another’s view for granted, guarding their hearts and spirits carefully. They do not ignore others. Quite the contrary, God watchers understand that we are all potentially, if not in reality, God watchers. Every believer has eyes to see if he chooses to look. If we are to get the full picture of all He is, we need to be willing to be taught by all around us. Remember, we are all in the priesthood of Melchizedek.
