Chapter Seventeen

Malachi

The council room is a battlefield. The metallic scent of blood hangs thick in the air as I confront the chaos around me. Alpha Kent’s dismembered body lies on the floor, a gruesome testament to the violence that has unfolded. My eyes scan the room, and I realize the vampires are numerous – a relentless wave of bloodthirsty creatures.

“I never liked Kent, but this is brutal,” I mutter to myself, feral instincts kicking in.

I clash with a vampire, teeth bared, as I rip through him, tearing limb from limb. The stench of death is overpowering, and my senses are on high alert. Alyssa’s screams cut through the chaos.

“Sophie!” she cries out.

I glance over, and there, on the ground, is Sophie. Red hair fans over her face as she mumbles gibberish. Panic surges within me as I charge towards her, determined to shield her from the onslaught.

Amid the blood bath, I lift Sophie into my arms. Her weight is unsettlingly light. The moment her body is cradled against mine, she falls into unconsciousness. I feel a surge of protectiveness as I navigate the carnage.

Alyssa, fighting nearby, notices us. “Malachi! We need to get out of here!”

I shake my head, the urgency in my voice matching the chaos around us. “Take Sophie. Get her out of here.”

Alyssa’s eyes widen, worry etched on her face. “What about you?”

“I have to stay. I have to help my people,” I reply, my voice determined.

She nods understandingly, her gaze flickering toward the door. “Be careful, Malachi.”

As soon as Alyssa and Sophie exit, my attention shifts back to the battle. Vampires swarm, and I know I can’t let them overrun the Council Territory. My body trembles, and in an instant, I transform into a majestic white wolf.

The world shifts, and my senses amplify. I charge into the fray; my wolf form agile and deadly. Teeth meet fur and flesh as I fend off the relentless vampires. The room reverberates with the sounds of battle.

Through the chaos, I spot Alpha Howard, a bulky vampire with teeth bared, charging towards him. My heart pounds, and I sprint to intercept the threat.

Alyssa took Sophie out of here. I say in his mind through the link, my wolf form standing protectively before Alpha Howard.

Alpha Howard nods, acknowledging the dire situation. “We need to push them back. Save as many as we can.”

The vampires keep coming, a never-ending onslaught. My instincts drive me forward as I tear through the horde. The battle is fierce, but determination fuels my every move.

We manage to push them outside, but they keep coming at us in droves.

“Alpha Malachi, we’re losing ground!” one of the werewolves shouts.

I grit my teeth, the weight of responsibility heavy on my shoulders.

“We can’t give in. Hold your ground!” Howard shouts, still in human form.

We fight together, a united front against the vampire threat. Fangs clash with claws, and the room is a symphony of snarls and roars. I catch glimpses of familiar faces, werewolves fighting bravely for their survival.

In the midst of the chaos, Alpha Howard and I lock eyes.
