Chapter Fourteen

Sophia

I hated all the time Liam and I had wasted apart. The last few months had been the hardest of my life. But in this moment, I realized that we’d needed that time apart to come to this point. Both of us needed to grow, and we did so on our own. Now it was time to grow together.

A week ago, I wasn’t sure I wanted him back. Now I knew it was the right decision. Nothing had felt as right as it did in this moment, like this was where we were meant to be. Being here with Liam was like returning home after a long, hard journey. He gave me the comfort and stability I needed in this world where nothing was predictable. I felt safe in his arms, like he would protect me from whatever came our way— no matter the cost. I knew that come hell or high water, he would take care of me, and I him.

His hands rested on either side of me, but he lifted one to guide his erection against me. Gently, he eased the tip of himself inside me. I inhaled a sharp breath, expecting it to hurt, but it didn’t.

“Is this still okay?” he asked.

I couldn’t find my breath, so I responded with a nod.

“I need to hear you say it, Sophia. I won’t do this without hearing yes.”

“Yes, Liam,” I moaned, begging for more. “Do it.”

Slowly, Liam pressed deeper. I felt pressure, then all of a sudden, it was like something gave way. He fit perfectly inside me, and I completely relaxed. It hurt for only a moment before the most amazing feeling ever came over me. It was like stumbling upon a hidden meadow in the forest, like a brand new world I’d never explored. Colors in the room changed, becoming more vibrant and clear.

“Fuck, Sophia. You’re so tight.”

I looked up to him to see his eyes were shut, like this new world was too much to take in all at once. He had a blissful expression on his face, and my heart felt full knowing I was the one making him feel like that.

Liam’s weight pressed down on me in a warm, safe embrace. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he held on to me as he began thrusting. It started slow at first, until small, involuntary noises of pleasure passed my lips. Liam moaned and increased his speed. It was so hot that I couldn’t help but claw at his back. There were so many emotions flooding through me in that moment that it was overwhelming. I wanted to slow down and experience each one on its own, savoring the incredible feelings one by one. But I couldn’t think. I couldn’t hardly breathe. All I could concentrate on was the motion of his body.

Liam shifted to take my hands in his, lacing his fingers through mine and pinning them to the bed beside my head.

“I love you,” he said against the crook of my neck.
