Chapter 7 – Richard

"I told you already, don't worry about it. Just get whatever you'd like." He snaked his arms around Cassandra's waist, and pressed his mouth to her neck. "If you're that worried about it, there are plenty of other ways you can pay me back."

He had one thing in particular in mind. The things this woman could do with her mouth...

"Like a home-cooked meal?" She giggled and peeled away from him. "Come on, people are staring."

"I thought you liked being looked at."

"By you, not a hundred strangers."

"All right, all right," Richard said, grinning. "Now come on. How hard is it to pick a couple of dresses? You look damn fine in all of them."

A week had passed since Richard and Cassandra officially became husband and wife, and it'd been an entire week of bliss. He couldn't remember being so happy with anyone in his entire life. Everything she did and said made him smile, made him feel like he was really alive. He'd never felt anything like it, and the more time he spent with Cassandra, the better it got.

They'd hardly left his condo all week, save for the necessities, and they'd spend a good fraction of that time together in bed. Though Richard had intended to take her out into the city and show her around, it seemed that they'd both been content to do other kinds of exploration instead. So even though Cassandra had moved in a week ago, they were only just getting out to grab her everything she needed to feel more at home at his place. Starting with clothes—since she had only brought three sets with her when she arrived.

Not that Richard was complaining. She could walk around in his place naked all the time for all he cared. She had an ass that could stop traffic... not that he wanted anyone else to be looking at her like that besides him. The mere thought of anyone thinking anything dirty about her made him agitated, and he tapped into his dragon strength without realizing it. Cassandra was his wife, and he didn't want to see what he'd do if anyone tried to contest that.

"That's what makes choosing so much harder, babe," Cassandra said. She was trying on a black, hip-hugging slinky dress that stopped just below her thighs. The things he would do to her in that. "Because if you like it, I like it too."

He raised his eyebrows, though, admittedly, he was paying more attention to her curves right then. "I'll propose an alternative: you could just get them all."

She laughed. "What could I possibly use this many dresses for?"

Richard could think of a few things, but he started with the more practical: "It would give me an excuse to take my beautiful wife out on a nice date," he said. "You'll have a nice dress to wear each time." He leaned closer. "And a nice one for me to take off after."

She gave him a naughty smile, but said nothing when she went back into the changing room.
