Chapter 25

When Mercedes Costilla woke up and looked around, she saw that her Sybaris hotel suite resembled the beginning of a Hangover movie, and she wondered if she'd encounter a tiger in the bathroom when she went to pee.

Thankfully, she did not run into a wild feline, but there was a half-naked girl lying in the middle of the floor that she had to step over to make it to the toilet.

The girl was still there when she left the bathroom minutes later.

She paused and looked around the room.

Empty bottles of Remy and Hennessy littered the floor. A glass table was broken, and there was blood on the shattered glass. Porsche and her underaged friend Sasha were wrapped in each other's arms on the sofa. Someone's bra was floating in the swimming pool.

Bubbles and Nona were up already; they were sitting in the Jacuzzi, passing a blunt back and forth and whispering about something.

The others who'd joined them last night were in other suites.

"They fucked up my room and went to theirs to go to sleep. Dirty ass niggas," Mercedes said.

Bubbles looked back at her. "You got a gun? Preferably a big one?"

"For real," Nona added as she stood and stepped out of the Jacuzzi, wrapping a towel around her waist. "That move last night has me terrified. I called Biggs. Him and Meach are way out in New Jersey. They had a concert there last night. He said he'll be here in a few hours."

"Well," Mercedes said, picking up her black croc skin Birkin bag and checking it to see if anything had been stolen while she was sleeping, "I don't want any of Blake's people around me period, so make sure y'all ain't here when you meet up with them. I'm done fucking with him and Alexus. You see what happened last night. Those motherfuckers are beyond crazy, and I ain't got time for it. Alexus had my momma killed on accident, Blake had my baby daddy killed, and my kids were killed by that Jenny Costilla. I hate my last name is even Costilla. I'm about to change that shit to my mom's last name."

"Do you think you can follow us to Blake's mansion first?" Bubbles asked as she too stepped out of the Jacuzzi. "Just so we can get our stuff. I'm about to go pick up my daughter and fly out to New York. I think I'm done with Blake's ass, too. At least until they lock Alexus up. I'm not about to lose my life because of some nigga."

"Me, neither," Nona said. "That shit is all over the news. Says they ambushed two real police officers and killed them to take their uniforms. I can't understand why they cut off those officers' heads. That was so uncalled for. Those men have families."

"It's the Costilla Cartel. What did you expect?" Mercedes went to the sofa and woke up Porsche and Sasha. "Y'all get up so we can go. Look at that damn table. Hope y'all don't think I'm paying for that shit.
