The Clarks of Northshire Bend

Standing at the top of the stairwell, Malik held his arms up, a smile on his face. He took the steps down the staircase of the jet, meeting Langston and Tristan at the bottom. They slapped hands, drew each other in for hugs, and patted each other down.

“Fellas! Looking good!” Malik’s smile stretched, and he pointed at Tristan. “Debonair. I love it.”

Tristan sucked his teeth and turned side to side, posing for them.

Langston guffawed and nodded. “Sharp brothers. Real sharp.”

“But that’s nothing new,” Malik added.

Tristan slapped hands with them again, his eyes traveling over Malik. “I would say you don’t look so bad yourself, but man, you need a haircut!”

Langston howled, and Malik wrinkled his nose, his gaze squinted, as he nodded.

“You’re right, Tristan. But where I came from, I didn’t have time for a haircut. Still, it’s all good. I’ll get one before I step foot into the public eye in Chicago. Trust me.”

Tristan nodded. “I know you will.” He surveyed Malik again. “Man, it’s good to see you.”

“You too.” Malik looked at Langston. “And you.”

“Better.”

The men laughed. “Let’s get going, shall we, fellas?”

They ascended the stairs and entered the private jet, to be greeted by attendants and the pilot.

“We’re ready for takeoff whenever you are,” the pilot said.

Malik checked with Tristan and Langston with a look, and they nodded.

“We’re ready.”
